Owls fascinate me because of their mysterious nocturnal habits, which give rise to all kinds of folklore and superstitions. An owl flying past your house could be a good or bad omen depending on the folklore of your culture. The house in this drawing stands on top of a hill on Pea Ridge, in rural Tennessee, and, according to my grandfather, was a favorite place for house parties, where people would gather and dance. He was one of the musicians that would provide the music.

I drew this picture in pencil and used Adobe Photoshop to combine it with a digital sunset photo from my collection. I like the contrast between the two very different mediums.
