Exploring the Complexity of Some of God's Most Beautiful Creations
Wildflowers are like treasure that I find while walking in the woods, fields, or along the road. Some are more scarce than others. My Grandma Kate introduced me to wildflowers when I was a child. She brought me a “little golden book of Wildflowers” and took me for a walk in the woods along the road. It’s almost like she knew where these flowers would be, because soon we found a patch of shooting stars. Grandma told me it was illegal to pick them because they were rare. Not far from there, was a patch of yellow violets. Even now, when I talk about going in the spring to look for yellow violets, people are surprised that they exist.
My pictures of flowers (particularly wild flowers) are meant to explore and highlight the unique beauty of each species of flower. A close up painting or print of a wildflower can bring their ephemeral beauty into your home all year, regardless of the season.
